NEW LIFE IN VINLAND

While I could've let Erik the Red's son, Thorstein, narrate the story, I chose Gudrid, his intrepid wife. Gudrid was a force all her own, and the story revolves around her infamous feud with Freydis, another tough Viking woman. This is all based on traces of what is known about Vinland, a place Torstein named as "Vine Land" for the many vines and grapes that grew wild there.

 

My story also includes the first European child born in the Americas: Snorri, son of Gudrid and Thorstein. And so, a new world was born.
